About Us
Presbyterians share our faith with other Christians and this faith unites us with Christ’s one universal church.
We believe:
*God is the supreme authority throughout the universe.
*Our knowledge of God and God’s purpose for humanity comes from the Bible. The life of Jesus Christ is revealed in the New Testament. Our knowledge grows through study and prayer.
*The grace of Jesus Christ is God’s generous gift to us and not the result of our own accomplishments.
*The grace of Jesus Christ has first place as the foundation of our knowledge of God, our Creator’s love, and our life together in the Holy Spirit.
*Jesus has saved us from the power of death and the power of sin. Because of His death on the cross and His resurrection, we are able to know the fullness of God’s love for us.
*Through the Holy Spirit, God empowers us to grow in faith, make more decisions, and live more faithful lives. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control are the result of our growth in the Spirit.
*We believe that it is everyone’s job—ministers and members to share this Good News with the whole world.
Presbyterians profess their beliefs through statements of faith that have been adopted over the years. These statements reflect our understanding of God and what God expects of us at different times in history. Even though we share these common beliefs, Presbyterians understand that God alone rules our conscience and it is up to each individual to understand through study and prayer what these principles mean in his or her life.
